Sloane McTavish, Norfolk Academy student participant on the exchange, helped write part of today’s blog post:
Early this morning, our host families dropped us off at Holy Trinity College for an excursion outside of the city to do some trekking and rappelling. We drove about an hour to a campsite that housed MDG Expediciones, a guiding company, where we packed up our lunches and set off. It was around two hours until we reached the top of the mountain, where we were met with an incredible view! Our guides set up the rappelling equipment as we enjoyed the view from inside a mountainside cave. Some of us conquered our fear of heights as we rappelled down part of the side of the mountain. It was exhilarating! We enjoyed our well-deserved lunch and continued the hike back around to the official “peak” of the mountain. We had an incredible 360-degree view of the surrounding area. At the peak, Mr. Guillermo Frontini, the Head of Sport at Holy Trinity College, led us through a few minutes of silent meditation. He asked us to close our eyes, listen to the breeze, and think of our families. It was incredibly calming and my favorite part of the day. Feeling accomplished and tired, we hiked back down to the campsite, said goodbye to our guides, and headed back to Mar del Plata. It was great to get outside today and see a bit more of this beautiful country!
