It is hard to believe our time in Mar del Plata has come to an end! Holy Trinity College held a beautiful farewell ceremony for us this morning. Anna Brush and Sloane McTavish were chosen to read their reflections on the experience (written and delivered in Spanish!). All Norfolk Academy students were presented with a certificate and their host sibling(s) gave them a Holy Trinity pencil pouch as a souvenir. Mr. Frontini had crafted a slideshow recounting our week and a half at Holy Trinity and its environs. By the end of the ceremony, some tears were flowing! We hugged our host families and new friends, said our goodbyes, and boarded the bus to head to Buenos Aires.
Several hours later, we arrived at our hotel in downtown Buenos Aires, had a quick turnaround, and then headed out to explore the city. Mrs. Federica Valenzuela from Holy Trinity took us on a walking tour of some of the important sites downtown - Plaza San Martin, Pope Francis' (former) home, several embassies, the widest avenue in the world, the Falklands memorial, etc. The city feels like a mix between New York and Paris - very cosmopolitan and stunning architecture.
After grabbing a bite to eat, we headed to Cafe de los Angelitos, a restaurant famous for its tango shows. We enjoyed an hour and a half long tango performance. The dancing and the music were beyond impressive (especially after having had our own tango lesson yesterday) and we thoroughly enjoyed it. We returned to our hotel ready to get some sleep before another day exploring BA tomorrow!
